“Your voice, your hands, your smile they’re one step away from restoring somebody’s faith in humanity.” #DoSomethingForNothing
Meet Joshua Coombes, a 29-year-old hairdresser from south London with a mission – giving the homeless their dignity and a little bit of love one haircut at a time…
Coombes, a trained hairdresser has taken to the streets to find his new clients; homeless folks living throughout London. Yet instead of charging them anything, he grants them the greatest gift of all, a makeover with a new look at life – kindness. By showing complete strangers love and kindness, he hopes to encourage others to follow suit and that such acts of empathy will become contagious leading to the betterment of all people, regardless of circumstance.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, Coombes explained how the entire idea came about. “It just happened one day. I had all my gear on me and I was walking past somebody who was homeless and it went from there, really. It was a light-bulb moment in my head and I was like − this is an amazing way to connect with people.”
With the help of his photographer and good friend Matt Spracklen, the gents document the journey of giving those in need a little kindness. In an effort to raise more awareness, the two joined forces with Dave Burt, CEO of the digital media group Be Social Global, and on July 9th, 2016, they launched their official #DoSomethingForNothing movement to help spread love and compassion.
